Lexington livestock sales

The Lexington Livestock Market, Lexington, Neb., Oct. 20, reported receipts 1,600 head, compared to 1,150 head last week and 1,800 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Kearney, Neb.

Compared to last week, comparable offerings were too few and trading was very uneven to establish an adequate market trend. Calves with all preconditioning shots and long-time weaned brought a significant premium to those calves without shots and bawling. Demand and trade activity were light to moderate. Total receipts consisted of 49% steers and 51% heifers, 51% of the total feeders weighed over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 19 head, 417 to 446 lbs., 131.50 to 137.00 (134.19); 9 head, 475 to 482 lbs., 127.50 to 129.75 (128.76); 527 to 534 lbs., 120.00 to 130.50 (125.88); 559 to 599 lbs., 112.50 to 128.00 (121.44); 600 to 633 lbs., 110.00 to 114.50 (112.64) calves; 651 to 698 lbs., 108.85 to 120.50 (114.24) calves; 8 head, 713 lbs., 102.50; 720 to 725 lbs., 103.50 to 110.25 (108.04) calves; 5 head, 779 lbs., 98.50; 10 head, 780 lbs., 107.75 calves; 26 head, 822 lbs., 100.00 calves; 14 head, 857 lbs., 99.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 13 head, 485 to 496 lbs., 111.50 to 120.00 (116.78); 17 head, 503 to 538 lbs., 117.75 to 120.50 (119.00); 558 to 597 lbs., 105.50 to 119.25 (116.46); 15 head, 612 to 623 lbs., 97.50 to 105.00 (99.97) calves; 4 head, 651 lbs., 119.00; 5 head, 667 lbs., 100.00 calves; 33 head, 775 lbs., 100.00; 12 head, 846 lbs., 99.00; 7 head, 861 lbs., 93.75.
