Women in ag conference planned for January

Oklahoma

The 2007 Women in Agriculture conference "Cows, Plows and so much more!" is being planned for Friday, Jan. 12. A team of representatives from Logan, Garfield and Grant counties who are dedicated to keeping women in rural Oklahoma informed about the resources available to make their everyday lives simpler will be presenting the conference and honoring women from their respected county.

Aside from the fact that the conference is going to be held on the Friday of the KNID Agri-fest at the Chisholm Trail Expo center that will be full of exhibitors promoting their products, the conference planners have decided to incorporate a mini-mall in the main hall of the conference site giving small Oklahoma based businesses the opportunity to tell their success stories and sell their Oklahoma made products.

The planned keynote speaker is Dr. Mac McCrory with OSU/OKC who will present: "As years go by... does intimacy fade?"

The 2007 conference agenda will include a variety of topics ranging from traditional farming to backyard conservation. This year's conference will also include a "Made in Oklahoma" mini-mall that features things such as buffalo meat products, wine and bath and body products.

Pre-registration cost for the conference is $10 per person which includes a buffet lunch provided by Klein's catering and refreshments during breaks. Registration for mini-mall vendors will be $50, which will include one meal ticket. Additional meal tickets are available for $10. Pre-registration ends Dec. 29.

The conference is being held at the Hoover Building on the Garfield County Fairgrounds in Enid and although the title of the conference implies that the conference is for women, men are welcome as well.

For additional conference information, please contact the Sheri Nickel at the Garfield County Conservation District at 580-237-7880.
