West Plains regional sales

The Ozarks Regional Stockyard, West Plains, Mo., reported receipts of 1,700 head Nov. 21, compared to 3,220 head last week and 3,095 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steers weighing 450 to 650 pounds and heifers weighing 400 to 550 pounds were $3 to $7 higher, with several instances of $7 to $10 higher at buyers discretion. Lighter and heavier weight cattle, although a limited test, sold steady to $3 higher. The supply was light in view of the Thanksgiving holiday. Demand was moderate to mostly good. The supply consisted of 54% steers and 46% heifers, with nearly 27% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 125.00 to 132.50; 400 to 450 lbs., 119.00 to 125.00, package fancy 425 lbs., 128.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 113.00 to 120.50; 500 to 550 lbs., 107.00 to 114.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 97.00 to 105.50; 600 to 650 lbs., 98.00 to 104.50, calves 94.00 to 96.50; 725 to 780 lbs., 95.00 to 102.50, few calves 93.00 to 94.50; package calves 836 lbs., 92.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 266 lbs., 130.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 115.00 to 121.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 112.50 to 120.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 105.00 to 115.50; 500 to 550 lbs., 100.50 to 107.50, lot Brangus to cross 547 lbs., 97.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 93.00 to 102.50; calves 90.50 to 94.00. Medium and large frame 2, package 243 lbs., 120.00; few 365 to 385 lbs., 119.00 to 125.00; 484 lbs., 102.50; few 500 to 520 lbs., 98.00 to 105.00; package 588 lbs., 87.50.

Holsteins: Large frame 3, part to load 860 lbs., 76.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 450 lbs., 105.00 to 108.00, few fleshy 93.00 to 98.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 96.00 to 104.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 91.00 to 100.00, fleshy 87.00 to 90.00; 600 to 630 lbs., 86.50 to 94.00; package 760 lbs., 84.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 105.00 to 113.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 102.00 to 110.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 94.00 to 100.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 86.00 to 95.00, some fleshy 85.00; 600 to 655 lbs., 85.00 to 87.50, package 674 lbs., full 83.00; 700 to 775 lbs., 80.00 to 85.00, lot thin 725 lbs., 85.50.
