Tulsa livestock auction report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 2,652 head Nov. 20, compared to 4,087 head last week and 2,970 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, steer calves were $6 to $10 higher, except 400- to 500-pound steers were steady. Heifer calves were $3 to $6 higher, except those at 400 to 500 pounds were steady. Quality was plain to average. Weigh-ups were average to full. There was active trade on better calves with good attendance of buyers. Receipts were comprised of 35% steers, 52% heifers, 13% bulls, with 19% of feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady. Quality was plainer with many thin and short bred cows available. A total of 527 cows and bulls sold with 43% going to packers.

Medium and large frame 2, 11 head, 359 to 390 lbs., 115.00 to 134.00 (129.01); 400 to 444 lbs., 111.00 to 130.00 (120.54); 18 head, 460 to 492 lbs., 108.00 to 118.00 (114.12); 20 head, 515 to 534 lbs., 100.00 to 101.00 (100.35). Small and medium frame 1, 5 head, 322 to 338 lbs., 110.00 to 140.00 (122.35).

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 9 head, 500 to 535 lbs., 103.00 to 116.00 (113.26); 9 head, 615 to 635 lbs., 100.00 to 101.50 (101.34) calves;. Medium and large frame 2, 6 head, 492 lbs., 96.00; 8 head, 511 lbs., 95.50; 5 head, 617 lbs., 88.00 calves; 7 head, 655 to 685 lbs., 85.50 to 90.50 (87.20); 13 head, 752 to 795 lbs., 75.00 to 86.00 (82.31).

Boners, 46 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1050 to 1600 lbs., 44.00 to 47.50; low dressing, 39.50 to 43.00. Lean, 75 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 42.00 to 45.50; high dressing, 46.00 to 47.00; low dressing, 37.50 to 41.00. Light, 60 head, 85 to 90% lean, 700 to 975 lbs., 37.00 to 40.50; high dressing, 41.00 to 42.50; low dressing, 32.50 to 36.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 28 head, 1350 to 2075 lbs., 55.50 to 59.00; high dressing, 60.00 to 62.50; low dressing, 50.50 to 54.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 5 to 6 years old, 1195 lbs., 7 months bred, high quality blacks, 800.00; 5 to 6 years old, 1050 to 1225 lbs., 5 to 7 months bred, average quality, 600.00 to 660.00.
