Tulia livestock auction report

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 1,999 head Nov. 20, compared to 2,820 head last week and 2,869 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were $3 to $5 higher. Feeder heifers under 600 pounds were mostly steady, over 600 pounds were $3 to $5 higher. Slaughter cows were steady to $3 higher. Slaughter bulls were $2 to $3 lower. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 98% and slaughter cows and bulls 2% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 49% of the run, heifers 51%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 46%.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1125 to 1775 lbs., 52.00 to 55.00, few; high dressing, 1220 to 1700 lbs., 58.50 to 61.25, few; low dressing, 1255 to 1595 lbs., 48.00 to 51.25, few.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, few young to middle-aged, 840 to 1000 lbs., 5 to 8 months bred, 725.00 to 800.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few middle-aged, 800 to 915 lbs., with 75- to 125-lb. calves, 400.00 to 510.00 per pair.
