Three scholars receive boost from Bison FoundationStudents awarded scholarships for further studies Three students have been awarded scholarships from the Throlson American Bison Foundation, a 501(c)(3) affiliate of the National Bison Association. Jennifer Bennett of Madison, Wis., received a $2,000 scholarship. Alisha Parsons of Shawnee, Okla., and Abigail Lusardi of Long Meadow, Mass., were each awarded $1,000 from the foundation. Bennett will use the bison scholarship to further her studies in Veterinary Medicine at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Parsons is studying animal science at the Oklahoma State University and Lusardi is a student in veterinary medicine at the Atlantic Veterinary College in Prince Edward Island, Canada. Dave Carter, executive director of the National Bison Association, said, "These scholarships help provide important financial support for young scholars who are dedicating themselves to a career in animal health. These future leaders are a valuable resource as we continue to work to restore American bison to the North American ecosystem, and to the American diet." Date: 11/20/06
