Salina cattle sales report

The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 2,970 head Nov. 16, compared to 2,723 head last week and 2,942 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers weighing 400 to 700 pounds and heifers at 350 to 550 pounds were $2 to $4 higher. Steers at 700 to 800 pounds were $1 to $2 higher, and 800 to 950 pounds were $2 to $3 higher. Heifers at 550 to 850 pounds were $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter cows were not tested. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 77% 600 pounds and over, 22% 600 pounds and under, 1% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply was 60% steers and 40% heifers.
