Newell sheep sales reportSt. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., Newell Sheep Yards, Newell, S.D., reported receipts of 3,567 head Nov. 16, compared to 3,660 head last week and 3,016 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, feeder lambs sold steady to $2 higher. Slaughter ewes sold $3 higher. Receipts were about 82% feeders, 9% slaughter ewes, 6% feeder ewes, 2% replacement ewes, with the balance slaughter bucks, miscellaneous sheep and goats. Demand was good on all classes. Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 56 head, 169 lbs., 33.25. Good 3 to 4, 43 head, 215 lbs., 20.25. Cull 1, 211 head, 131 lbs., 22.00; 11 head, 118 lbs., 11.50 thin. Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 52 head, 48 lbs., 136.00; 55 to 59 lbs., 123.00 to 132.50 (126.79); 60 to 65 lbs., 120.00 to 130.00 (127.04); 74 to 79 lbs., 104.50 to 113.50 (111.86); 82 to 89 lbs., 97.50 to 113.75 (108.94); 90 to 98 lbs., 96.00 to 99.25 (98.52); 101 to 102 lbs., 91.25 to 97.25 (96.82); 15 head, 104 lbs., 82.50 Burry. Small and medium frame 1 to 2, 15 head, 51 lbs., 102.00. Replacement ewes: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, white face, open, price per head. 33 head, 3 years to short solid, 176 lbs., 65.00; 35 head, short term, 144 lbs., 43.00. Feeder ewes: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 212 head, 148 lbs., 34.75 medium. Aged bucks: 15 head, 215 lbs., 24.75; 9 head, 163 lbs., 13.25 thin. Date: 11/22/06
