Limousin Junior Association offers internshipCollege sophomores, juniors or seniors who are interested in the beef cattle industry and looking for a paid, part-time internship have a great opportunity with the North American Limousin Junior Association in partnership with the North American Limousin Foundation. The new internship includes attending the NALJA Board of Directors meeting in April, three regional shows during the summer, the National Junior Limousin Show and Congress in July, and the National Western Stock Show in January. It is the perfect chance for students who have other obligations to gain experience with a national breed association and its junior activities. The intern's major responsibility will be helping to plan and conduct the NJLSC and regional shows, including NALJA's educational satellite events. The selected student will attend the spring NALJA Board meeting and spend an early-summer week in the NALF office to become acquainted with the junior program, staff and assignments. The intern will attend the breed's three regional shows, spend one week at the NJLSC and work in the NALF office the following week to assist with news releases, show wrap-up and recordkeeping. Outside the time spent at shows and in the NALF office, the intern will work from home or school. NALJA will pay travel expenses associated with the internship and provide a stipend. Candidates must be at least 19 years old and willing to travel to the NALF office in suburban Denver and to the regional and national junior shows. Excellent communication and organizational skills will be of great value to the intern, and experience with cattle shows will be helpful. To apply, send a résumé, cover letter and three letters of recommendation to the following address by Jan. 15, 2007: NALJA Internship, c/o North American Limousin Foundation, PO Box 4467, Englewood, CO 80155-4467. Candidates also can e-mail application materials to Kate Kusma, NALJA co-advisor, at kate@nalf.org or fax them to her attention at 303-220-1884. Call NALF, 303-220-1693, for more information. The North American Limousin Foundation (www.nalf.org), headquartered in Englewood, Colo., provides programs and services--including genetic evaluation of 5,000 active sires--to about 4,000 members and their commercial customers. The Limousin breed and its Lim-Flex hybrid lead the beef industry in muscle-growth efficiency and ideally complement British breeds. Date: 11/21/06
