International Feedlot Cowboys Rodeo Association coming to Garden City

Kansas

The Finney County Fair Grounds and Convention & Tourism Bureau are pleased to announce that the International Feedlot Cowboys Rodeo Association Finals will be held in Garden City July 11 to 14, 2007. This exciting event is returning to Garden City after seven years of being in Amarillo, Texas.

The first finals were held in Las Vegas 33 years ago and have since been in Elko and Winneumcca, Nev., Amarillo and in Garden City in 1996 and 1998. The IFCA will bring great economic impact to the community, as Garden City will be a vacation destination for more than 200 contestants and their families for four days.

This event offers great sponsor categories which allow sponsors to compete in the barrel racing and team roping for some very prestigious prizes. The 34 year old association credits their success to their fabulous sponsors that make it a great organization.

Finalists will compete in team roping and barrel racing events, with qualifiers from 6 states. The finals consist of contestants' hard work to earn more than $80,000 in prize money payouts and $60,000 in awards. The 2005 IFCA finals had over 300 contestants competing, with the 2006 competition having over 220 contestants from 75 feed yards. With the finals back in Garden City, the heart of feed yard country, the association is looking for contestant entry numbers to go up to the 250 to 300 range.

We are extremely pleased and excited to have the IFCA back in Garden City and ready to show them the great hospitality that we have in Southwest Kansas. We'll see you at the IFCA Finals, in the Grandstand Arena at the Finney County Fairgrounds. You won't want to miss this GREAT family event.

To be a member of this association, you have to be a feedlot employee or a feedlot owner.
