Wyobraska cattle sales reportThe combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending May 20, totaled 1,800 head, compared to 2,450 head last week and 2,450 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Torrington, Wyo. Feeder steers and heifers were not well tested at Wyoming auctions this week. Demand was moderate. In the direct trade not enough feeder steers and heifers for good price comparison. Direct trade was slow. Demand was light to moderate. Buyer inquiry was moderate. Offerings were light. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent slide on calves and 3 to 6 cents slide on yearlings from base weight. Steers made up 37% of the supply, heifers 63%, with 94% over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 1550 head of the total receipts. Steers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, 930 lbs., 90.00. Direct, Medium and large frame 1, 725 lbs., 111.00 delivered; 860 lbs., 95.00; 875 lbs., 93.80 to 95.50 delivered. Heifers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, 560 lbs., 114.00; 775 to 825 lbs., 88.00 to 89.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500 lbs., 103.00.
