Watson, Lebsock and Dixon awarded Morgan County 4-H FoundationColorado Kassi Watson and Stephanie Lebsock, both of Fort Morgan and Claire Dixon of Brush have been selected as the Morgan County 4-H Foundation Scholarship winners for 2006. Watson is planning to attend Morgan Community College in the fall, Lebsock will be attending Colby Community College and Dixon is planning to attend the University of Denver. Kassi Watson is the daughter of Bernard and Beverly Watson of Fort Morgan. She is an eight year 4-H member and belongs to the Morgan Sandburs 4-H Club. Her project interests have been in horses and decorate your duds. Watson has also participated in Fashion Revue and excelled there as well. She has served in several leadership roles in her club and a representative to Morgan County 4-H Council. Watson has been very active in her horse project and she as been the Junior Gymkhana Grand Champion, the Senior Grand Champion English Horseman and last year the Senior Grand Champion Western Horseman. Watson has won several record book awards as a junior and senior member and received recognition as a club pacesetter. She has participated in the Morgan County 4-H Talent Festival for several years and represented our county at the District and State levels in vocal solos, piano and trumpet solos. Watson has won the top honors in talent at the Colorado State Fair. She has performed for others as a community service for a number of years. Watson has been a county winner in demonstrations and competed at the Colorado State Fair in 2002. Watson is a senior at Agape Academy. Stephanie Lebsock is the daughter of Steve and Barbara Lebsock of Fort Morgan. She is a nine year member of 4-H and belongs to the Lads n Lassies 4-H Club. Lebsock has had projects in breeding and market sheep, breeding and market beef, market swine, market goats, catch-it pig, catch-it sheep, catch-it dairy, rabbits and cake decorating. Lebsock has had leadership roles in her 4-H club, serving as the president for two years, and as a Senator for Morgan County 4-H Council. Lebsock has exhibited at both the National Western Stock Show and the Colorado State Fair. She also participated in the National Western Catch-it Calf program. Lebsock excels at presenting demonstrations and has won the county and state senior team and individual demonstration contests; receiving a trip to National Western 4-H Roundup, twice. In 2005, Lebsock was the 5th high individual at the State 4-H Livestock Judging Contest and a member of the 2nd place team in the state. The team represented Colorado and competed at the American Royal Livestock Judging Contest in October where the team placed 6th. Lebsock attended National 4-H Conference in 2005 and received the I Dare You Award for her 4-H career accomplishments in 2005. She is a senior at Fort Morgan High School. Claire Dixon is the daughter of Mike and Janice Dixon of Brush. She is an eleven 4-H member and belongs to Cowpokes n Cactus 4-H. She has taken projects in breeding and market sheep, breeding and market goats, breeding and market beef, market swine, archery, leathercraft, horticulture, entomology, geology, genealogy, foods, pies, ceramics, home environment, crocheting, quilting, veterinary science, leadership and catch-it projects in beef, dairy, rabbit, chicken and sheep. Dixon has been an exhibitor at National Western Stock Show and the Colorado State Fair. Dixon attended Western 4-H Roundup in 2005 as a state team demonstration contest winner. She is a member of the Morgan County Livestock Judging Team placing 2nd at state in 2005 and 6th at American Royal in October. She has attended CWF, National 4-H Congress and National 4-H Conference. She joined 41 other youth selected to serve on the National 4-H Youth Directions Council, working to implement youth and adult partnerships. Currently her 4-H club president, Claire served as Morgan County 4-H Council president in 2005 and 2003. Dixon was District I 4-H president in 2005, Colorado State 4-H officer also in 2005, and a member of the State 4-H Conference Planning Committee in 2005 and 2006. She has been involved in two exchange programs, Massachusetts and North Carolina. Dixon was recognized as the county I Dare You Winner in 2005 and the Outstanding Colorado 4-H Junior Leader in 2006. The Morgan County 4-H Foundation formed in 1959, provides financial support to the Morgan County 4-H program by providing awards and recognition to members at Achievement Night. Throughout the year the 4-H Foundation provides financial assistance to 4-H members participating in Citizenship ... Washington Focus, National 4-H Congress, National 4-H Conference, and the 4-H exchange. The Morgan County 4-H Foundation raises monies through a yearly dinner held during the Morgan County Fair, the Cajun Boil and a concession stand provided during the Brush Rodeo in July. In 2002, the Morgan County 4-H Foundation, initiated a special fundraiser to celebrate the 100th anniversary of 4-H. In Morgan County, the "Clover Patch" has been placed at the Morgan County Fairgrounds to recognize 100th anniversary contributors of $100 with a bronze clover, $250 with a silver clover and $500 contributors with a gold clover.
