Tulsa livestock auction report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 3,197 head May 22, compared to 1,871 head last week and 1,925 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, steer calves were steady to $2 lower, except 5 weights were $3 to $5 lower. Feeder steers were steady. Heifer calves were $2 to $3 higher. Feeder steers and heifers were mostly steady. Feeders in medium flesh condition with average weigh-ups. Demand was good with good attendance of buyers. Receipts were comprised of 42% heifers, with 22% of feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were $2 to $4 lower. Slaughter bulls were $3 lower. Quality was very plain with several thin cows included. A total of 650 cows and bulls sold with 38% going to packers.

Medium and large frame 2, 17 head, 381 to 395 lbs., 137.00 to 157.00 (140.64); 14 head, 425 to 442 lbs., 125.00 to 127.00 (125.56); 13 head, 453 to 478 lbs., 123.00 to 128.50 (127.14); 9 head, 755 to 785 lbs., 85.00 to 97.50 (92.22).

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 15 head, 550 to 596 lbs., 109.00 to 117.00 (111.36); 11 head, 662 to 698 lbs., 96.00 to 103.00 (101.51). Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 527 lbs., 117.50. Small and medium frame 1, 10 head, 436 lbs., 128.00; 6 head, 579 lbs., 116.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 6 head, 232 to 235 lbs., 154.00 to 156.00 (155.66); 9 head, 327 to 340 lbs., 128.00 to 140.00 (132.13); 356 to 399 lbs., 128.00 to 137.50 (131.79); 8 head, 405 to 430 lbs., 125.50 to 129.00 (127.44); 450 to 498 lbs., 113.50 to 119.50 (116.53); 500 to 548 lbs., 107.00 to 118.50 (113.52); 550 to 595 lbs., 98.00 to 108.50 (103.64); 613 to 640 lbs., 95.00 to 104.00 (100.75); 665 to 683 lbs., 94.00 to 101.00 (97.85); 16 head, 700 to 747 lbs., 92.00 to 94.50 (92.15); 6 head, 769 lbs., 93.00. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 28 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1170 to 1500 lbs., 50.00 to 53.50; low dressing, 45.50 to 49.00. Boners, 57 head, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1450 lbs., 49.00 to 52.50; high dressing, 53.00 to 56.50; low dressing, 44.50 to 48.00. Lean, 59 head, 85 to 90% lean, 925 to 1400 lbs., 47.00 to 50.50; low dressing, 42.50 to 46.00. Light, 68 head, 85 to 90% lean, 750 to 975 lbs., 40.00 to 44.00; high dressing, 45.00 to 47.50; low dressing, 35.50 to 39.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 23 head, 1400 to 2125 lbs., 59.00 to 62.50; high dressing, 63.00 to 65.50; low dressing, 54.50 to 58.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 5 to 6 years old, 1000 to 1100 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, average quality, 675.00 to 775.00.
