Tulia livestock auction news

Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 3,449 head May 22, compared to 3,198 head last week and 6,967 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers under 600 pounds were steady to $5 lower, 600 to 900 pounds were $2 to $4 higher. Feeder heifers were steady to $4 higher. Slaughter cows were $1 to $3 lower. Slaughter bulls were $2 to $4 lower. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400- to 950-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 92% and slaughter cows and bulls 8% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 63% of the run, heifers 37%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 76%.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, young to middle-aged, 1000 to 1485 lbs., 5 to 8 months bred, 725.00 to 985.00 per head. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 563 to 1000 lbs., 4 to 6 months bred, 425.00 to 510.00 per head; young to middle-aged, 1000 to 1555 lbs., 5 to 8 months bred, 500.00 to 710.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle aged, 730 to 1505 lbs., with 50- to 200-lb. calves, 650.00 to 850.00 per pair. Large frame 1, individual, young, 1325 lbs., with 75-lb. calf, 1135.00 per pair.
