Texhoma cattle market news

The Texhoma Livestock Auction, Texhoma, Okla., reported receipts of 1,085 head May 24, compared to 1,111 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $2 higher. Steer calves were steady. Limited test on heifer calves. Demand was good for all classes. Fill was average. Quality was average to plain. The supply was comprised of 49% steers, 51% heifers with 77% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were $3 lower. A total of 74 cows and bulls sold with 81% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 12 head, 539 lbs., 117.50; 728 to 740 lbs., 107.75 to 111.00 (109.11). Medium and large frame 2, 13 head, 385 lbs., 136.00; 36 head, 412 lbs., 136.50; 450 to 456 lbs., 135.75; 8 head, 520 lbs., 116.50; 8 head, 706 to 714 lbs., 98.00 to 99.00 ( 98.37). Small and medium frame 4, 8 head, 661 lbs., 74.00 Longhorn; 12 head, 751 lbs., 75.00 Longhorn.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 2 head, 420 lbs., 118.00; 12 head, 467 to 492 lbs., 110.00 to 118.50 (114.85); 513 to 535 lbs., 108.00 to 111.00 (110.20); 11 head, 575 lbs., 106.00; 15 head, 638 lbs., 105.50; 348 head, 707 lbs., 103.50; 6 head, 767 lbs., 91.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 head, 407 lbs., 117.00. Medium and large frame 2, 6 head, 525 to 530 lbs., 101.00 to 103.00 (102.33); 5 head, 587 lbs., 103.00; 14 head, 805 lbs., 85.00.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 22 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1475 lbs., 45.00 to 46.50; high dressing, 47.00 to 48.00; low dressing, 42.25 to 44.50. Lean, 32 head, 85 to 90% lean, 875 to 1000 lbs., 44.25 to 46.25; high dressing, 47.00 to 48.25; low dressing, 40.00 to 43.50. Light, 6 head, 85 to 90% lean, 875 to 975 lbs., 37.50 to 40.00.
