TDA partners to host wine marketing conference
AUSTIN - The Texas Department of Agriculture and the Texas Wine and Grape Growers Association are teaming up to host the 2006 Wine Marketing Conference June 14 and 15. The free conference will focus on how to successfully market wine in Texas, spotlighting brand identity, marketing synergy and tasting room profitability. Deadline for registration is June 9, and space is limited. On June 14, the conference will be held at Delaney Vineyards, 2000 Champagne Blvd. in Grapevine. On June 15, it will be at the Grapevine Convention Center, 1209 S. Main St. in Grapevine. The second day is limited to the first 90 registered participants. The wine conference runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Featured speakers include: Dr. James Lapsley, a winemaker and chair of the University of California at Davis Extension's Department of Science, Agriculture and Natural Resources; Peter Rubens with more than 20 years experience in the wine industry and founder of Bear Flag Marketing, the only national wine marketing company dedicated to ultra-premium and luxury California wines; and Craig Root with more than 15 years as one of the leading tasting room consultants in the United States. Conference registration is free, but there is a charge for all meal events and the reception.
