Sioux Falls sheep salesThe Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., reported estimated receipts of 500 head May 22, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D. Slaughter lambs were firm on a light test. Slaughter ewes were steady to $3 higher with good demand. Feeder lambs wer in short supply, a higher undertone was noted. Sheep supplies were near 46% slaughter ewes with about 42% feeder lambs and the balance mostly slaughter lambs. Slaughter lambs: Wooled, Choice end Prime 2 to 3, 110 to 130 lbs., 82.00 to 84.00, package 165 lbs., 70.00. Slaughter ewes: Utility and Good 2 to 3, 32.00 to 37.50, few high dressing, 39.00 to 43.00. Cull 1 to 2, 23.00 to 31.00. Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 55 to 58 lbs., 120.00 to 125.00; 73 to 81 lbs., 107.00 to 108.00. Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, few 30 to 48 lbs., 132.00 to 141.00. Selection 2, few 58 lbs., 119.00. Date: 5/25/06
