Salina cattle auction news

The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 2,146 head May 18, compared to 2,465 head last week and 2,028 head last year, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers weighing 400 to 700 pounds were not enough Medium and large frame 1 for a market test, with a few 500- to 600-pound heifers selling $2 to $3 higher. Steers weighing 700 to 800 pounds were steady on a light test, and 800 to 1,000 pounds were $2 to $4 higher. Heifers weighing 700 to 900 pounds were steady. Slaughter cows were not tested. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts, included 76% 600 lbs., and over, 21% 600 pounds and under, 2% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 77% steers and 23% heifers.
