Novartis names scholarship sweepstakes winnersNovartis Animal Health, Greensboro, N.C., has announced the winners of its Vira Shield Legacy of Leadership sweepstakes, a program marking the company's 200 millionth dose of Vira Shield sold. The five winning entries were chosen randomly out of more than 64,000 entries that were received during the sweepstakes period. Each received a $5,000 award to be used for college tuition and/or expenses. Winners were given the opportunity to designate a student to receive the award. The five winners are: --Fred Bindewald of Anselmo, Neb., who designated Kevin Blakeman of Merna, Neb.; --Logan Getz of Gove, Kan.; --Gary Amsberry of Ansley, Neb, who designated his daughter, Brooke Amsberry; --Gayland Myers of Maryville, Mo., who designated his grandson Arlie Myers of Hopkins, Mo.; --Carla Beeman of Gentry, Ark, who designated her daughter, Kristi Beeman. Winners also received a free trip to receive their awards at the 2006 National Cattlemen's Beef Association Convention in Denver or the 2006 World Ag Expo in Tulare, Calif. Novartis also is extending its support to both the National FFA and 4-H. To further commemorate the 200 millionth dose, Novartis is providing more than $2,000 a piece to the National FFA and 4-H organizations. Date: 5/23/06
