The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,125 head March 30, compared to 4,203 head last week and 1,559 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.
Compared to last week, feeder steers under 700 pounds were mostly steady, and over 700 pounds were $2 to $4 higher. Feeder heifers were mostly steady on light test. Slaughter cows were not well tested. No comparisons available on slaughter bulls. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2 500- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 995 and slaughter cows and bulls 1% of the run. The offering included 79% steers, heifers 21%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 97%.
Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 625 to 700 lbs., 110.50 to 116.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 102.25 to 109.00; 800 to 850 lbs., 99.00 to 102.50, package 843 lbs., 95.75, fleshy; 900 to 975 lbs., 88.00 to 94.00; 1000 to 1070 lbs., 87.00 to 87.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 518 lbs., 125.00; package 669 lbs., 108.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 97.50 to 107.00; 825 to 850 lbs., 92.75 to 95.25. Medium and large frame 2, package 776 lbs., 91.00; lot 810 lbs., 88.50. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, package 778 lbs., 89.50.
Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, package 390 lbs., 137.00; lot 441 lbs., 130.00; package 624 lbs., 108.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 91.50 to 92.00; lot 818 lbs., 90.25; package 979 lbs., fleshy 77.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 559 lbs., 113.00; 625 to 700 lbs., 97.50 to 104.00; several packages 761 lbs., 91.00 to 92.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, package 692 lbs., 97.50.
Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1050 to 1110 lbs., 60.00 to 62.50, few; high dressing, 1140 to 1765 lbs., 64.00 to 66.00, few.
Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle age, 770 to 1215 lbs., 5 to 8 months bred 600.00 to 740.00 per head.
Special breeding bull sale from Giles Angus, Ashland, Kansas, 1000 to 1300 lb., bulls 1750.00 to 2400.00 per head; one 1366 lbs., bull 2850.00 per head.
