The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 4,905 head March 16, compared to 5,176 head last week and 4,582 head last year, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kan.
Compared to last week, feeder steers weighing 400 to 650 pounds were steady to $2 lower on a light test, 650 to 750 pounds were $3 to $5 higher, and 750 to 1000 pounds were $1 to $2 higher. Feeder heifers weighing 400 to 700 pounds were $1 to $3 higher, and 700 to 900 pounds were steady to $1 higher. Slaughter cows were not tested. Trade and demand were moderate. Receipts included 85% 600 pounds and over, 15% 600 pounds and under, less than 1% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 70% steers and 30% heifers.
