Products approved for use in organic production

Untitled

Lallemand Animal Nutrition has launched a family of products approved for organic use. This list includes:

--Alkosel organic selenium yeast;

--Agrimos, a Manno-Oligosaccharide (MOS) source;

--(OU) Biotal Buchneri 500 forage inoculant;

--(OU) Biotal Plus II forage inoculant;

--Levucell SB (OU) active dry yeast;

--Levucell SC (OU) rumen specific yeast.

This line features approval for organic production by OMRI and GarantieBio-Ecocert allowing producers in Canada and the U.S. access to high quality products to enhance production and animal health.

OMRI is a non-profit organization that specializes in the review of substances for use in organic production, processing and handling. GarantieBio-Ecocert is a Quebec organic certification organization.

Agrimos is a MOS source that is extracted from yeast cell walls. It contains mannans and glucans that act as binding sites for bacteria therefore reducing the ability of the bacteria to attach to the intestinal wall and cause scours.

Levucell SC is an active dry yeast for use as a probiotic or direct-fed microbial in ruminant feeds. It is a unique strain that was specifically selected for its ability to enhance rumen function. Levucell SC is incorporated into ruminant diets particularly during periods of rumen stress and rumen development.

Levucell SB is an active dry yeast for use as a probiotic or direct-fed microbial in feed for monogastric animals and young ruminants. The strain was selected specifically based on its ability to maintain the balance of intestinal microflora. An extensive research bibliography documents its benefits in poultry, swine and calf diets.

Alkosel contains selenium in organic form. Alkosel's bioavailability optimizes the animal's selenium status and allows it to realize its full growth and production potential.

Biotal forage inoculants combine proprietary strains of lactic acid bacteria with enzymes for fast efficient ensiling and aerobic stability. Buchneri 500 inoculant containing lactobacillus buchneri 40788 is FDA-reviewed "for improved aerobic stability of silage and high moisture corn stored for not less than 60 days."
