OKC West cattle sales

The OKC West Livestock Market Inc., El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 2,256 head March 22, compared to 4,354 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.
Compared to last week at OKC West, feeder steers and heifers were steady to $2 lower. Steer and heifer calves were not well tested. Demand was moderate to good for all classes. Quality was plain to attractive. Feeder cattle light to moderate flesh conditions. Calves in medium to fleshy conditions. Weigh-ups good to average. Slaughter cows and bulls were $1 to $3 higher. Packer demand was good. A total of 240 cows and bulls sold with 27% going to packers.

Slaughter cows: Breaker, 7 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1400 to 1600 lbs., 51.00 to 53.00. Boners, 36 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1425 lbs., 52.00 to 55.50; high dressing, 57.50 to 58.00. Lean, 2 head, 85 to 90% lean, 950 to 1350 lbs., 47.00 to 50.00 .
Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 21 head, 1400 to 2375 lbs., 65.00 to 68.50; high dressing, 69.00 to 72.00; low dressing, 62.00 to 63.00.
Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 1 to 2 years old, 850 to 950 lbs., 6 to 7 months bred, average quality 790.00 to 800.00; 5 to 8 years old, 900 to 1000 lbs., 2 to 4 months bred, average quality 710.00 to 810.00; 5 to 8 years old, 900 to 1000 lbs., 5 to 8 months bred, high quality black 850.00 to 1080.00; 9 years old, 1200 lbs., 7 months bred, high quality black 810.00.
Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 3 years old, 900 to 1000 lbs., with 100- to 350-lb. calves, average to high quality 1050.00; 5 to 7 years old, 1000 lbs., with 150- to 200-lb. calves, average to high quality 1050.00; 7 to 8 years old, 1300 to 1400 lbs., with 150- to 200-lb. calves, average to high quality 1060.00.
