Newell sheep sales report

St. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., Newell Sheep Yards, Newell, S.D., reported receipts of 2,031 head March 16, compared to 1,155 head last week and 454 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D.
Compared to last week, the market followed the fat lamb market with feeder lambs selling $5 to $10 lower. Slaughter ewes sold $3 to $5 lower on a light test. Feeder lambs included two full loads and a couple near loads. Receipts were about 91% feeders, 6% slaughter ewes and the balance was bucks, miscellaneous sheep and goats.
Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 27 head, 161 lbs., 33.50. Good 2 to 4, 20 head, 211 lbs., 26.00. Utility 1 to 2, 41 head, 151 lbs., 34.00. Cull 1, 32 head, 133 lbs., 27.25.
Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 51 head, 77 lbs., 113.50; 57 head, 81 lbs., 113.00; 16 head, 84 lbs., 110.50 new crop; 90 to 98 lbs., 96.25 to 100.00 (96.60); 48 head, 94 lbs., 105.00 new crop; 100 to 102 lbs., 95.50 to 96.25 (95.79); 223 head, 121 lbs., 75.75. Medium frame 1 to 2, 23 head, 123 lbs., 70.00.
Aged bucks: 15 head, fleshy, 264 lbs., 25.25; 8 head, medium and thin, 218 lbs., 15.50.
