The combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska, and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending June 17, totaled 2,225 head, compared to 5,425 head last week and 1,850 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Torrington, Wyo.

Feeder steers and heifers were not well tested at Wyoming auctions this week. Demand was moderate. In the direct trade not enough comparable sales of feeder steers and heifers. Direct trade was slow. Demand was light to moderate. Buyer inquiry was moderate. Offerings were light to moderate. Some interest noted for fall contracting of calves and yearlings. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent slide on calves and 3 to 6 cents slide on yearlings from base weight. Steers made up 35% of the supply, heifers 65%, with 76% over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 1625 head of the total receipts.

Steers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, 750 to 760 lbs., 107.75 to 108.50; 915 to 1000 lbs., 97.00 to 103.50. Medium and large frame 2, 430 lbs., 115.00. Direct, Medium and large frame 1, 430 lbs., 145.00 October; 540 lbs., 117.00 October delivered; 550 lbs., 122.00 delivered; 910 lbs., 107.00.

Heifers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, 680 to 700 lbs., 106.25 to 110.00; 850 to 860 lbs., 99.00; 910 to 940 lbs., 92.75 to 96.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2 570 to 595 lbs., 110.00 to 111.50. Direct, Medium and large frame 1, 420 lbs., 137.00 October; 520 lbs., 114.00 delivered; 520 lbs., 108.00 October delivered; 625 lbs., 110.00; 740 lbs., 105.00; 800 lbs., 106.00 September.
