St. Onge livestock sales news

The St. Onge Livestock Sales Co., Ltd., St. Onge, S.D., reported receipts of 603 head June 16, compared to 662 head two weeks ago and 439 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to two weeks ago, trends on feeders not applicable due to light receipts. Slaughter cows and feeder cows sold $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls sold steady on a light test. Feeder receipts included 26% steers, 53% heifers and 21% bulls, with 95% over 600 pounds. Receipts were about 33% slaughter cows, 29% feeders, 28% replacement females; 4% slaughter bulls and the balance was feeder bulls, pairs, bred cows, and baby calves.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 17 head, 733 lbs., 115.50 calves; 5 head, 859 lbs., 106.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 9 head, 707 lbs., 118.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 11 head, 671 lbs., 114.50 calves. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 6 head, 404 lbs., 125.50; 46 head, 625 lbs., 118.25.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 16 head, 630 lbs., 117.00; 8 head, 715 lbs., 112.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1445 to 1725 lbs., 51.00; low dressing, 44.50 to 46.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1180 to 1650 lbs., 47.50 to 51.50; high dressing, 52.50 to 53.25; low dressing, 44.50 to 46.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 890 to 1450 lbs., 45.50 to 51.50; high dressing, 52.00 to 53.00; low dressing, 38.00 to 44.75.

Replacement females: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 years old, 835 to 1105 lbs., 74.00 to 83.00, package 893 lbs., 90.00. Heiferettes, 970 to 1270 lbs., 63.50 to 69.00. Feeder cows, Large frame 1, 1385 to 1665 lbs., 48.00 to 52.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 1056 to 1369 lbs., 48.50 to 52.75, younger 54.50 to 57.00.

Feeder bulls: Large frame 1 to 2, 915 to 1030 lbs., 81.00 to 88.00; 1070 lbs., 78.00; 1255 to 1350 lbs., 65.50 to 69.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1435 to 2378 lbs., 59.25 to 62.75; high dressing, 63.50 to 65.25; low dressing, 57.00 to 58.50.
