Springfield livestock sales

The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 2,193 head June 22, compared to 1,900 head last week and 3,125 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $2 higher, with instances of $2 to $4 higher especially in the 500- to 600-pound feeder classes, feeder Holsteins sold $3 to $5 higher. The supply was moderate and demand was moderate to good. Feeder quality and condition was outstanding, considering the condition of most local pastures. Offerings this week held several good sized drafts. Receipts were made up of 48% steers, 32% heifers, 14% Holsteins, and 6% bulls, with 56% over 600 pounds.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 137.00 to 154.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 124.00 to 132.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 116.00 to 127.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 109.00 to 117.50; 700 to 750 lbs., 109.00 to 113.50; 800 to 850 lbs., 98.00 to 102.00; package 1175 lbs., 79.50. Medium and large frame 2, 350 to 400 lbs., 130.00 to 133.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 109.00 to 116.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 106.00 to 106.50; 750 to 800 lbs., 95.00.
