Newell sheep sales reportSt. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., Newell Sheep Yards, Newell, S.D., reported receipts of 1,360 head June 15, compared to 1,179 head two weeks ago and 983 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to two weeks ago, feeder lambs sold with a definite higher undertone noted. There were no trends on slaughter ewes due to light receipts, but a lower undertone was noted. Buyer attendance good with good to very good demand. Slaughter lambs and feeder lambs were all new crops. Receipts were about 51% feeders, 31% slaughter lambs, 5% slaughter ewes and the balance was pairs, bucks, bum lambs, miscellaneous sheep and goats. Slaughter lambs: Wooled Choice 2 to 3, 123 to 125 lbs., 100.25 to 100.50 (100.42); 161 head, 136 lbs., 98.75. Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 33 head, 163 lbs., 25.00. Good 2 to 4, 5 head, 193 lbs., 22.00. Utility 1 to 2, 19 head, 156 lbs., 25.50. Cull 1, 11 head, 137 lbs., 20.50. Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 60 to 66 lbs., 113.00 to 114.50 (113.69); 82 to 88 lbs., 108.25 to 114.75 (112.58); 90 to 93 lbs., 103.50 to 108.00 (105.98); 101 to 107 lbs., 98.75 to 99.50 (99.02); 115 to 119 lbs., 95.75 to 96.00 (95.84).
