Joplin regional cattle sales

The Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 5,500 head June 19, compared to 5,900 head last week and 4,403 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steers under 800 pounds were steady, over 800 pounds were steady to $3 higher, heifers were steady. Demand and supply were moderate. The interest in heavy feeders was fueled by several load lots and CME live cattle and feeder cattle contracts trading on the plus side. The feeder supply included 52% steers, 4% Holsteins, 39% heifers, 5% bulls, with 58% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 260 to 300 lbs., 147.00 to 167.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 139.00 to 165.00; package 410 lbs., thin 142.00, 470 to 500 lbs., 125.00 to 129.00; 525 to 600 lbs., 120.00 to 126.00, package thin 128.00; 600 to 700 lbs., calves 112.50 to 122.00; 645 to 700 lbs., yearlings 114.50 to 118.50; 700 to 725 lbs., 111.50 to 112.50, calves or fleshy 107.00 to 109.25; 830 to 835 lbs., 103.50 to 104.00; 900 to 920 lbs., 104.00 to 104.60. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 250 to 270 lbs., 147.50 to 150.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 135.00 to 150.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 123.00 to 140.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 114.00 to 127.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 107.50 to 118.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 102.50 to 112.00; 800 to 870 lbs., 100.50 to 105.00.

Holstein steers: Large frame 3, package 368 lbs., 114.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 103.50 to 110.00; package 538 lbs., 100.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 90.00 to 91.85.
