Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, reported receipts of 4,085 head of sheep and goats June 16, compared to 3,666 head last week and 2,869 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, light slaughter lambs were $10 to $15 lower, heavy weights were steady. Stocker and feeders were $10 to $15 lower. Slaughter goats were $15 to $20 lower. Demand was moderate. The supply included around 30% sheep including near $650 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder lambs: Dorper ewes: 32.00 to 50.00 per head; 40 to 60 lb. ewe lambs 80.00 to 110.00. Dorper bucks, 120 to 200 lbs., 68.00 to 82.50. Barbados ewes, 20.00 to 37.00 per head. Barbados bucks, 100.00 to 200.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Choice and Prime, 45 to 80 lbs., 70.00 to 88.00, few to 94.00; 85 to 130 lbs., 60.00 to 70.00. Ewes, Good, 90 to 140 lbs., 25.00 to 30.00. Bucks, 100 to 220 lbs., 30.00 to 40.00. Barbados, Lambs, 15 to 40 lbs., 65.00 to 71.00; 45 to 80 lbs., 60.00 to 71.00. Bucks, 90 to 130 lbs., 40.00 to 50.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 60 lbs., 80.00 to 90.00, few to 93.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 80.00 to 95.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 70 to 130 lbs., 45.00 to 57.00. Selection 2, 30.00 to 45.00. Billies, 100 to 200 lbs., 60.00 to 75.00. Muttons, Selection, 70 to 120 lbs., 80.00 to 108.00.

Replacement goats: Kids, Selection 1, 50 to 70 lbs., fancy 90.00 to 125.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 70 to 130 lbs., 70.00 to 95.00, few to 100.00 to 110.00. Selection 2, 55.00 to 70.00. Pairs, 28.00 to 40.00. Billies, Selection 1, individual 150.00 per head.

Stock and feeder goats: 25 to 45 lbs., 75.00 to 90.00.
