Georgia cattle auction summary

The summary of Georgia cattle auctions for the week ending June 16 showed receipts of 12,900 head, compared to 12,900 head last week and 9,500 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Thomasville, Ga.

Compared to one week ago, slaughter cows were $3 to $4 lower, bulls were $2 to $3 lower, feeder steers were $2 to $3 lower, heifers were steady to $3 lower, steer calves were $4 to $6 lower, heifer calves were $3 to $4 lower, replacement cows were mostly $2 lower. Flesh conditions were thin and very thin.

The offering included 8% steers over 600 pounds, 38% steers under 600 pounds, 4% heifers over 600 pounds, 29% heifers under 600 pounds, 11% slaughter cows and 1% bulls.
