Youth parade champions at 2006 National Junior Angus Show

Junior Angus exhibitors from across the United States exhibited 1,177 entries at the 2006 National Junior Angus Show, July 9 to 15 in Indianapolis, Ind. The Indiana Angus and Junior Angus Associations hosted the annual event, "All Roads Lead to the '06 Show." Doug Parrett, Urbana, Ill., evaluated the 688 owned females. Jeff Dameron, Lexington, Ill., judged the 253 bred-and-owned females, 86 bred-and-owned bulls, and 52 cow-calf pairs. Scott Bush, Britton, S.D., evaluated the 72 steers, while 26 more steers competed in the carcass contest.

Katy Satree, Montague, Texas, led the grand champion bred-and-owned bull. DAJS Royal Edition 212 is a May 2005 son of Champion Hill Edition 2029. He first won intermediate champion.

Blake Boyd, Mayslick, Ky., showed the reserve grand champion bred-and-owned bull. Boyd Voyager 5116, a September 2005 son of S A V 8180 Traveler 004, first won calf champion.

Justin Brosey, Hamilton, Ohio, led B C C Extravagant Elaine 056 to grand champion bred-and-owned female honors. The February 2005 daughter of P V F New Horizon 001 first won early junior champion.

Katrina Frey, Quarryville, Pa., captured reserve grand champion bred-and-owned female title. Frey KJF Ark Pride M35-P48 is a February 2005 daughter of C F Right Design 1802. She earlier won reserve early junior champion.

Jessica Willis, Union Bridge, Md., claimed grand champion owned female with Gambles Shadoe 988. The September 2004 daughter of Gambles Hot Rod first topped the senior division.

Callie Smith, Lebanon, Tenn., led Champion Hill Lady 4618 to reserve grand champion owned female honors. The May 2005 daughter of S A V 8180 Traveler 004 first won early intermediate champion.

Kassandra Pfeiffer, Orlando, Okla., showed the grand champion bred-and-owned cow-calf pair. PAF 0240-C00 is an April 2004 daughter of BR Midland. A February 2006 daughter of Exar Lutton 1831 is at side. The duo first won champion 2-year old pair.

Boyd Forever Lady 4004 claimed reserve grand champion bred-and-owned and reserve 2-year old cow-calf pair honors for Blake Boyd, Mayslick, Ky. She's a January 2004 daughter of BR Midland with a February 2006 daughter by S A V 8180 Traveler 004 at side.

Kristen Oaks, Calhoun, La., showed the grand champion owned cow-calf pair. Gambles Miss Famous 621 is an October 2000 daughter of Famous 7001. A January 2006 heifer calf by B C Marathon 7022 completes the pair that first won champion mature pair.

Danielle Foster, Niles, Mich., led the reserve grand champion owned cow-calf pair and champion 2-year old pair. D C C Miss Evergreen 441 is an April 2004 daughter of Leachman Saugahatchee 3000C. A February 2006 bull calf sired by BR Midland completes the winning duo.

Kimberly Long, Airville, Pa., showed the grand champion steer. Thornbrook New Design 4135 is an April 2005 son of Foxcross New Design 3174.

Kaitlyn Clarke, West Chester, Ohio, led the reserve grand champion steer. Champion Hill Edition 4474 is a February 2005 son of Champion Hill Edition 2029.

In the carcass contest, Ethan McCabe, Elk City, Kan., entered the top indexing steer. TCR Barb 5136 is an April 2005 son of K M Future Direction 4002.

James Pfeiffer, Mulhall, Okla., entered the reserve grand champion carcass steer. PAF Steer 5009 is a January 2005 son of C A Future Direction 5321.
