West Plains regional sales

The Ozarks Regional Stockyard, West Plains, Mo., reported receipts of 3,200 head July 25, compared to 4,097 head last week and 2,265 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steers under 650 pounds and heifers under 600 pounds were $2 to $5 higher, although several plainer calves, especially heifers sold $7 to $10 higher than last week, heavier weight steers over 650 pound heifers over 600 pounds were steady to mostly $2 lower. The supply was moderate, yearlings not nearly as plentiful or attractive as last week. Demand was good, with good buyer attendance. The feeder supply consisted of 57% steers and 43% heifers, with nearly 53% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 345 to 400 lbs., 142.00 to 155.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 129.00 to 142.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 119.50 to 134.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 113.50 to 125.00, some soft calves 108.00 to 118.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 105.00 to 112.00, few calves 104.00 to 106.00; 850 to 875 lbs., 104.00 to 105.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, lot 264 lbs., hard to weaned/thin 170.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 137.50 to 160.00, few thin near 300 lbs., 161.00 to 165.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 123.00 to 137.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 115.00 to 131.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 110.00 to 123.00, few calves 105.00 to 112.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 106.00 to 112.25, package 726 lbs., gaunt 114.00; lot 865 lbs., 106.50; several 900 to 950 lbs., 101.90 to 105.25. Medium and large frame 2, 450 to 500 lbs., 127.00 to 129.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 114.00 to 123.50; 675 to 700 lbs., 106.00 to 112.50; lot 775 lbs., 109.50.
