Tulsa livestock sales report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 2,200 head July 24, compared to 2,482 head last week and 1,959 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, light weight steers were $3 to $5 lower, with feeder steers $2 to $3 lower. Light weight heifers and feeder heifers mostly steady to $2 lower. Quality was very plain to average, cattle in thin to average flesh. Weigh-ups were mostly average with a few fleshy calves. Demand was good along with good attendance of buyers. Receipts were comprised of 44% steers, 47% heifers, 9% bulls, with 23% feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls sold mostly steady, with quality being poor and cows in thin condition. A total of 490 cows and bulls sold with 40% going to packers.

Medium and large frame 2, 6 head, 250 to 266 lbs., 153.00 to 155.00 (154.68); 10 head, 358 to 397 lbs., 126.00 to 130.00 (128.49); 11 head, 460 to 498 lbs., 108.00 to 121.00 (116.79); 5 head, 602 to 605 lbs., 107.00 to 108.00 (107.40); 6 head, 755 to 763 lbs., 100.00 to 103.50 (102.92); 10 head, 975 to 994 lbs., 92.50 to 93.00 (92.55).

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 9 head, 500 to 547 lbs., 110.00 to 118.50 (115.81); 9 head, 555 to 585 lbs., 110.00 to 125.00 (117.70); 6 head, 605 to 640 lbs., 104.00 to 113.50 (111.08); 7 head, 650 to 675 lbs., 100.00 to 106.00 (103.62). Medium and large frame 2, 6 head, 481 to 495 lbs., 110.50 to 121.00 (118.56).

Feeder Holstein steers: Large frame 3, 5 head, 488 lbs., 95.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 18 head, 305 to 345 lbs., 125.00 to 137.50 (129.23); 19 head, 350 to 398 lbs., 122.00 to 127.00 (124.34); 415 to 442 lbs., 117.00 to 124.00 (120.86); 460 to 498 lbs., 113.00 to 123.00 (115.50); 15 head, 505 to 543 lbs., 105.00 to 114.00 (110.13); 550 to 592 lbs., 104.00 to 109.50 (108.00); 10 head, 610 to 633 lbs., 104.00 to 107.00 (104.89); 14 head, 653 to 693 lbs., 103.00 to 106.00 (104.31); 5 head, 702 to 735 lbs., 98.50 to 104.50 (102.03). Slaughter cows: Boners, 62 head, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1375 lbs., 46.50 to 50.00; high dressing, 50.50 to 51.50; low dressing, 42.00 to 45.50. Lean, 68 head, 85 to 90% lean, 950 to 1365 lbs., 43.00 to 46.50; high dressing, 47.00 to 49.50; low dressing, 39.00 to 42.50. Light, 45 head, 85 to 90% lean, 780 to 985 lbs., 40.00 to 43.00; high dressing, 44.00 to 46.50; low dressing, 35.00 to 39.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 20 head, 1300 to 2150 lbs., 57.00 to 59.50; high dressing, 60.00 to 63.50; low dressing, 52.50 to 56.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 5 to 6 years old, 1050 to 1225 lbs., 3 to 7 months bred, average blacks 740.00 to 860.00; 8 to 9 years old, 1300 to 1400 lbs., 4 to 6 months bred, average blacks 700.00 to 725.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, 1 to 3 years old, 1050 to 1100 lbs., with 150- to 200-lb. calves, average blacks 1050.00 to 1060.00.
