Tulia livestock auction news

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,464 head July 24, compared to 1,809 head last week and 1,118 head last year, according to the Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers under 500 pounds were $2 to $5 lower, over 500 pounds were mostly steady. Feeder heifers and slaughter cows were mostly steady. Slaughter bulls were steady to $2 higher on a light test. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 94% and slaughter cows and bulls 6% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 54% of the run, heifers 46%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 50%.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1395 to 2285 lbs., 51.75 to 56.75, few; high dressing, 1495 to 1985 lbs., 59.50 to 64.00, few; low dressing, 1185 to 1510 lbs., 48.00 to 49.50, few.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle aged, 1030 to 1110 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred 660.00 to 760.00 per head; young to middle aged, 895 to 1195 lbs., 4 to 6 months bred 450.00 to 500.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few young to middle aged, 1105 to 1185 lbs., with 120- to 150-lb. calves 725.00 to 835.00 per pair. Large frame 1, individual young, 1110 lbs., with 200-lb. calf 910.00 per pair.
