Texhoma cattle sales report

The Texhoma Livestock Auction, Texhoma, Okla., reported receipts of 564 head July 26, compared to 1,000 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, there was a limited test on feeder steers with a lower undertone noted, and a limited test on feeder heifers. There was no test on steer and heifer calves. Demand was moderate for feeders and calves, very good for pairs. Fill was average to full. Quality was average to plain. The supply was comprised of 38% steers, 52% heifers with 43% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were $1 higher. Slaughter bulls were steady. A total of 156 cows and bulls sold with 48% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 727 to 735 lbs., 110.00 calves; 83 head, 866 lbs., 108.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 82 head, 592 lbs., 116.25; 6 head, 611 lbs., 111.00 calves. Medium and large frame 2, 7 head, 357 lbs., 123.00; 6 head, 450 to 487 lbs., 113.00 to 115.00 (114.69); 6 head, 516 lbs., 112.50. Small and medium frame 1, 5 head, 518 lbs., 112.50.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 8 head, 400 to 440 lbs., 133.00 to 135.00 (134.46).

Slaughter cows: Boners, 18 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1075 to 1400 lbs., 46.50 to 48.00; high dressing, 47.75 to 52.00; low dressing, 43.50 to 45.00. Lean, 27 head, 85 to 90% lean, 875 to 1275 lbs., 45.50 to 47.00; high dressing, 48.00 to 49.50; low dressing, 41.50 to 44.00. Light, 25 head, 85 to 90% lean, 775 to 1220 lbs., 36.00 to 41.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 6 head, 1275 to 1750 lbs., 58.00 to 60.50; low dressing, 50.00 to 56.50.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, 2 years old, 900 lbs.,, with 125- to 200-lb. calves, average quality blacks, 1135.00; 4 to 5 years old, 925 to 1000 lbs., with 100- to 225-lb. calves, average quality blacks, 1210.00 to 1260.00; 4 to 5 years old, 975 to 1050 lbs., with 200- to 250-lb. calves, average quality blacks, 1375.00 to 1410.00 bred back; 6 to 7 years old, 1275 to 1400 lbs., with 225-lb. calves, average quality, 890.00 to 925.00.
