Sioux Falls sheep sales

The Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., reported receipts of 721 head July 24, compared to 724 head last week and 848 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared with last week, slaughter lambs sold mostly steady. Slaughter ewes were steady to firm. Feeder lambs under 80 pounds sold steady to $5 higher, over 80 pounds steady. Slaughter lambs comprised nearly 46% of the run, slaughter ewes nearly 25% and the balance mostly feeder lambs.

Slaughter lambs: Shorn Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 46 head, 141 lbs., 101.00. Wooled, Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 121 to 128 lbs., 95.50 to 99.50 (97.66); 130 to 148 lbs., 95.50 to 100.00 (99.49).

Slaughter ewes: Good 1 to 3, 6 head, 197 lbs., 40.00. Good 2 to 3, 181 to 195 lbs., 19.00 to 25.00 (21.41). Utility and Good 1, 5 head, 150 lbs., 35.00; 16 head, 162 to 163 lbs., 30.00 to 32.00 (31.12). Utility and Good 1 to 3, 11 head, 155 lbs., 48.50. Utility 1 to 2, 13 head, 149 to 156 lbs., 19.00 to 20.00 (19.30); 161 to 167 lbs., 26.00 to 29.50 (29.18). Cull 1, 111 to 144 lbs., 15.00 to 20.00 (17.80).

Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 18 head, 49 lbs., 142.00; 5 head, 54 lbs., 136.00; 10 head, 62 to 66 lbs., 110.00 to 119.00 (116.42); 4 head, 71 lbs., 114.50; 84 to 88 lbs., 100.00 to 109.50 (106.30); 91 to 96 lbs., 96.75 to 103.50 (100.57); 102 to 104 lbs., 93.00 to 93.75 (93.53).
