Salina cattle auction news

The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 2,366 head July 20, compared to 3,365 head last week and 2,546 head last year, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers 450 to 700 pounds were steady to $2 lower on a light test. Steers 700 to 850 pounds were $1 to $2 lower, 850 to 950 pounds were steady to firm. Heifers 700 to 850 pounds were $2 lower. Slaughter cows were not tested. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 90% 600 pounds and over, 9% 600 pounds and under, less than 1% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 65% steers and 35% heifers.
