Pratt livestock market report

Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 1,442 head July 20, compared to 3,686 head last week and 3,005 head last year, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers 300 to 1,000 pounds were steady in a very light supply. Feeder heifers 300 to 950 pounds were steady to weak in a very light supply. Trade was active, demand was good. Slaughter cows were $4 higher. Slaughter bulls were not tested. Receipts included 81% 600 pounds and over, 14% 600 pounds and under, 5% cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 64% heifers and 36% steers.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 17 head, 597 lbs., 118.00; 5 head, 837 lbs., 107.50; 8 head, 953 lbs., 101.50. Medium and large frame 2, 9 head, 688 lbs., 100.00; 7 head, 701 lbs., 105.00; 5 head, 766 lbs., 104.00; 11 head, 825 lbs., 100.50; 30 head, 991 lbs., 96.60. Large frame 2, 800 to 850 lbs., 93.00 to 98.00 (96.21); 5 head, 894 lbs., 85.00.

Pairs: Medium frame 1, young, 8 pair 936 lbs., 1225.00.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 52.00 to 55.00 (53.20); 85 to 90% lean, 46.00 to 51.00 (48.96); low dressing, 40.00 to 45.00 (42.60).

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, low dressing, 55.00 to 60.00 (57.55).
