Nebraska soybean management field days Aug. 15 to 18Nebraska The eighth annual Soybean Management Field Days Aug. 15 to 18 at four locations across the state will offer producers unbiased and research-based information to improve their soybean profitability. "Growing America's Future" is the theme of this year's event that consists of four field stops across the state, each with demonstration plots, lunch and time for questions. Producers will obtain ideas and insight about the challenges they face in producing a quality crop at a profitable price in today's global economy. Topics include: Management for Improving Crop Water Use, Marketing/Management/Government Programs, Managing New and Emerging Disease, Insect and Weed Problems, and Ten Steps to Finding Answers to Your Soybean Production Questions. Presenters include University of Nebraska-Lincoln specialists, educators and industry consultants. The field days begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at 2:30 p.m. Free registration is available the day of the event. Dates, locations and directions are: --Aug. 15: Randy Ortmeier Farm, near West Point, field is located 16 miles west of West Point and 1.75 miles north of Highway 32 and the Stanton/Cuming county line. --Aug. 16: Joe Sekutera Farm, Hazard, field located at the southwest corner of the intersection of Highways 2 and 10. --Aug. 17: Matt Hansen Farm, Dorchester, field is located 2.4 miles west of Dorchester on Highway 33, and a half-mile south, or half-mile east from Highways 6 and 33 intersection and a half-mile south. --Aug. 18: Krumel Farms (Larry and Howie Krumel), Wahoo, field is located on the east side of Highway 77 northeast corner of Wahoo, half-mile south of the State Weigh Station. Continuing education credits for the Certified Crop Advisor program will be available. Those attending also can bring crop-related samples to the UNL Mobile Plant Diagnostic Lab which will be on site at all locations. Agronomists, plant disease, and insect specialists will be available to address production-related questions.
