Local auction company attends international conference

Larry Theurer and Cammy Theurer McComb of Tranzon Theurer Auctions attended the largest conference of Auctioneers in the world in July to attend educational seminars and network with colleagues from across the U.S. and around the world.

The National Auctioneers Association (NAA) hosted the 57th International Auctioneers Conference and Show July 10 to 15 in Orlando, Fla. It featured more than 70 educational seminars, including those on technology, Internet auctions, selling real estate at auction, building a work team, and more. The Conference also featured marketing awards events, of which Tranzon Theurer Auctions won an award for Two-Color Auction Printed Materials, Farm Machinery and Equipment.

The NAA Conference is a premier way that Auctioneers gain valuable education and business connections that help them be successful and leaders in their business communities.

New President of the NAA, William Sheridan, CAI, AARE, GPPA, of Mason, Mich., has as one his goals for NAA to establish a closer relationship with the National Association of Realtors (NAR). President-Elect of the National Association of Realtors, Pat Vredevoogd, Grand Rapids, Mich., addressed the NAA members on Saturday morning. As the 2006-2007 President of NAR, her goal is to work more closely with NAA to educate Realtors on the benefits of working with Auctioneers. At the NAR conference this November in New Orleans, an Auction Forum will be conducted in which NAA's President, William Sheridan, and NAA's President-Elect, Thomas L. Williams, will be participants on the panel. Auctions are a growing part of the U.S. economy. Gross sales revenues from auctions by NAA members in the first quarter of 2006 increased 5.7% over same time period one year ago, a study by the NAA has found. If this trend continues, this will translate into approximately $254.1 billion total revenue for 2006 for the entire auction industry, up from $240.2 billion in 2005, a 5.8 percent increase.
