Tulsa livestock market report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 2,326 head Jan. 23, compared to 3,039 head last week and 2,117 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, lightweight steers were steady to $3 higher, with feeder steers steady. Lightweight heifers were steady to $2 higher, with feeder heifers were $1 to $2 higher. Very good demand on most classes. Quality was a little plainer. Weigh-ups were mostly average. Buyer attendance was good. Dry weather conditions continue across much of the state. Receipts were comprised of 43% steers, 47% heifers, 7% bulls, with 26% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were $2 higher. A total of 290 cows and bulls sold with 39% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 7 head, 310 to 340 lbs., 160.00 to 172.00 (163.20); 10 head, 358 to 390 lbs., 151.00 to 154.00 (153.06); 400 to 440 lbs., 145.00 to 153.00 (148.44); 450 to 490 lbs., 139.00 to 148.00 (145.44); 500 to 535 lbs., 130.00 to 138.50 (135.09) calves; 17 head, 550 to 558 lbs., 125.00 to 136.75 (134.52) calves; 600 to 649 lbs., 115.00 to 124.50 (119.97) calves; 661 to 699 lbs., 109.00 to 118.50 (113.56) calves; 5 head, 718 lbs., 113.00. Medium and large frame 2, 11 head, 375 to 393 lbs., 139.00 to 144.00 (141.60); 5 head, 437 to 438 lbs., 142.00 to 146.00 (143.60); 7 head, 450 to 495 lbs., 126.00 to 139.00 (130.65).

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 16 head, 559 to 595 lbs., 115.00 to 125.50 (120.79); 12 head, 602 to 625 lbs., 119.50 to 121.00 (120.50); 6 head, 738 lbs., 115.00. Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 718 to 740 lbs., 103.50 to 104.50 (103.91).

Feeder Holstein steers: Large frame 3, 6 head, 300 to 341 lbs., 116.50 to 117.00 (116.65); 16 head, 406 to 445 lbs., 113.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 6 head, 250 to 280 lbs., 151.00 to 160.00 (157.92); 350 to 388 lbs., 135.00 to 144.00 (137.43); 400 to 445 lbs., 123.00 to 136.00 (131.16); 453 to 487 lbs., 123.00 to 129.00 (126.69); 500 to 549 lbs., 115.00 to 123.00 (119.58) calves; 22 head, 552 lbs., 128.50 fancy; 600 to 644 lbs., 106.00 to 111.50 (108.48) calves; 18 head, 654 to 698 lbs., 103.00 to 111.50 (107.52) calves; 8 head, 752 to 753 lbs., 102.50 calves. Medium and large frame 2, 9 head, 365 to 388 lbs., 120.00 to 134.00 (127.90); 18 head, 411 to 443 lbs., 120.00 to 126.00 (124.02); 8 head, 463 to 490 lbs., 118.00 to 124.00 (122.27); 500 to 548 lbs., 109.00 to 115.00 (113.31) calves; 10 head, 550 to 565 lbs., 110.00 to 116.00 (111.59) calves. Small frame 4, 7 head, 406 to 440 lbs., 96.00 to 112.00 (104.83) Longhorn; 6 head, 493 lbs., 89.00 Longhorn.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 15 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1275 to 1600 lbs., 50.00 to 53.50; high dressing, 54.00 to 55.00; low dressing, 45.50 to 49.00. Boners, 27 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1075 to 1475 lbs., 47.50 to 51.00; high dressing, 52.00 to 56.00; low dressing, 42.50 to 46.00. Lean, 25 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 46.00 to 49.50; high dressing, 50.00 to 54.00; low dressing, 42.00 to 45.00. Light, 30 head, 85 to 90% lean, 700 to 1000 lbs., 41.00 to 44.50; high dressing, 45.00 to 47.00; low dressing, 36.50 to 40.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 15 head, 1300 to 2000 lbs., 60.00 to 63.50; high dressing, 64.00 to 68.00; low dressing, 55.50 to 59.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 5 to 7 years old, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 5 to 7 months bred, average quality, 850.00 to 935.00.
