Pratt livestock auction report

Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 2,371 head, Jan. 19, compared to 4,984 head, last week and 3,572 head, last year, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers weighing 300 to 700 pounds and feeder heifers weighing 300 to 650 pounds were $1 to $5 higher in a light supply. Feeder steers weighing 700 to 950 pounds were steady with instances of $1 to $2 lower. Feeder heifers weighing 650 to 900 pounds were steady. Trade was active, demand was good. Slaughter cows were $1 lower. Slaughter bulls were steady. Receipts included 78% 600 pounds and over, 15% 600 pounds and under, 7% cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 52% steers and 48% heifers.
