OKC West cattle sales

The OKC West Livestock Market Inc., El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 3,914 head Jan. 25, compared to 4,119 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week at OKC West, feeder steers and heifers were $1 to $2 lower. Demand was moderate for feeder cattle. Steer and heifer calves were steady and continue to sell to good demand. Quality was average to attractive. Feeder cattle continue to gain well on the short Wheat with flesh conditions of medium to moderate, few fleshy. Weigh-ups were mostly average. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Packer demand was good. Demand was very good for bred cows and pairs. A total of 215 cows and bulls sold with 47% going to packers. The supply consisted of 81% over 600 pounds, 14% under 600 pounds, 5% cows and bulls. Heifers comprised 35% of feeder and calf supply.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, calves, 300 to 350 lbs., 182.50 to 185.00; 350 to 400 lbs., 161.00 to 167.50; 400 to 450 lbs., 150.00 to 160.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 140.00 to 153.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 135.00 to 147.00; lot 595 lbs., 125.00; 600 to 675 lbs., 113.00 to 127.00. Yearlings, lot 640 lbs., 126.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 113.00 to 117.50; 700 to 750 lbs., 113.00 to 115.25; 750 to 800 lbs., 107.50 to 111.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 102.00 to 109.00; 900 to 975 lbs., 100.00 to 102.50. Medium and large frame 2, calves, 600 to 700 lbs., 110.00 to 120.00; lot 700 lb. yearlings 112.50.

Holsteins: Large frame 3, package 415 lbs., 119.00; lot 915 lbs., 89.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, calves, few 300 to 335 lbs., 150.00 to 151.00; 395 lbs., 132.50; 400 to 450 lbs., 129.00 to 139.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 124.00 to 133.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 118.00 to 127.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 114.00 to 119.00; 600 to 675 lbs., 107.00 to 116.00; few 775 to 800 lbs., 101.00 to 101.75. Yearlings, 600 to 650 lbs., 114.00 to 118.50; few 675 to 700 lbs., 107.50 to 109.50; 700 to 750 lbs., 103.50 to 111.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 100.00 to 105.50; 800 to 875 lbs., 95.00 to 99.50. Medium and large frame 2, calves, 375 to 400 lbs., 125.00 to 130.00; 445 lbs., 127.00; 550 to 575 lbs., 102.50 to 110.00; 600 to 625 lbs., 100.00 to 101.00. Yearlings, 625 to 675 lbs., 110.00 to 110.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 100.00 to 106.50.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 30 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1050 to 1550 lbs., 48.50 to 51.00; low dressing, 45.00 to 48.00. Boners, 21 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1700 lbs., 49.50 to 52.00; high dressing, 52.50 to 54.50; low dressing, 47.00 to 49.50. Lean, 24 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1400 lbs., 47.50 to 51.00; high dressing, 52.00; low dressing, 42.00 to 47.50. Lights, 6 head, 80 to 90% lean, 775 to 1075 lbs., 47.00; low dressing, 42.00; very low 35.00 to 39.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 12 head, 1400 to 2200 lbs., 61.00 to 64.00; high dressing, 63.50 to 67.50; low dressing, 55.00 to 60.50; very high 72.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, heifers, 800 to 1000 lbs., 4 to 8 months bred, average quality blacks, 850.00 to 930.00; 6 to 9 years old, 1000 to 1150 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, average quality, 800.00 to 900.00; 10 years old, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 5 to 7 months bred, average quality, 650.00 to 730.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 2 years old, 850 lbs., with 250-lb. calves, high quality blacks, 1325.00; 7 to 10 years old, 1000 to 1200 lbs., with 100- to 300-lb. calves average to high quality, 1000.00 to 1100.00.
