McAlester cattle market news reportThe McAlester Union Livestock Market, McAlester, Okla., reported receipts of 1,900 head Jan. 24, compared to 2,200 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla. Compared to last week, stocker and feeder cattle steady. Good attendance of buyers and active on trade. Quality was average to attractive. Cattle were in thin to fleshy condition. Receipts were comprised of 46% steers, 48% heifers with 30% 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady to $2.50 higher. Good attendance of buyers. Strong demand for cows returning to grass. A total of 250 cows and bulls sold with 30% to packers.
