Tulia livestock market news

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 1,483 head Feb. 20, compared to 2,656 head last week and 2,351 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were mostly steady. Slaughter cows and bulls not well tested. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 99% and slaughter cows and bulls 1% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 66% of the run, heifers 34%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 74%.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 500 to 525 lbs., 134.50 to 137.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 117.00 to 120.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 105.50 to 111.50; 800 to 875 lbs., 100.00 to 104.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400 to 475 lbs., 136.00 to 137.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 116.00 to 125.00, package 585 lb. yearlings 118.50; 650 to 700 lbs., 110.00 to 112.75; 700 to 800 lbs., 100.00 to 106.50; 800 to 850 lbs., 92.75 to 99.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, 350 to 400 lbs., 137.00 to 138.00; package 448 lbs., 116.00; 500 to 575 lbs., 111.50 to 117.00; few 698 lbs., 103.00; package 777 lbs., 93.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 121.00 to 128.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 112.00 to 114.50; package 619 lb. calves 107.00; lot 863 lbs., 90.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 425 lbs., 120.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 109.00 to 113.50, 550 to 575 lb. yearlings 113.00 to 114.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 103.00 to 105.00, package 616 lb. calves 104.50.

Slaughter cows: Lean, 85 to 90% lean, under 800 lbs., 41.00 to 44.50, few.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-age, 800 to 1270 lbs., 5 to 7 months bred, 630.00 to 835.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few young to middle-aged, 600 to 1330 lbs., with 100- to 150-lb. calves, 750.00 to 910.00 per pair.
