Texhoma cattle market news

The Texhoma Livestock auction, Texhoma, Okla., reported receipts of 720 head Feb. 22, compared to 1,150 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold $1 to $2.50 lower, in a limited test. Steer and heifer calves in a limited test. Demand was moderate for all classes. Fill was average. Quality was average to attractive. The supply was comprised of 68% steers, 31% heifers with 90% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were steady to $1 higher. Limited test on bulls. A total of 100 cows and bulls sold with 41% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 10 head, 482 lbs., 135.00; 15 head, 595 lbs., 120.25; 6 head, 632 lbs., 113.00; 17 head, 657 to 677 lbs., 110.50 to 111.00 (110.61); 2 head, 715 lbs., 110.00; 775 to 779 lbs., 106.50 to 107.50 (107.48); 813 to 836 lbs., 102.50 to 103.50 (102.92); 68 head, 889 lbs., 98.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 8 head, 761 lbs., 107.50. Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 672 lbs., 110.50; 5 head, 761 lbs., 104.00; 9 head, 917 lbs., 94.25.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 14 head, 458 to 498 lbs., 120.50 to 125.25 (123.97); 7 head, 606 to 646 lbs., 105.50 to 106.50 (106.08); 148 head, 675 lbs., 104.60. Medium and large frame 2, 9 head, 522 to 549 lbs., 116.50 to 117.00 (116.61); 6 head, 730 lbs., 97.25.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 11 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 52.50 to 54.75; high dressing, 55.50 to 55.75; low dressing, 50.00 to 51.00. Lean, 27 head, 85 to 90% lean, 825 to 1400 lbs., 50.00 to 53.50; high dressing, 54.75 to 55.75; low dressing, 46.00 to 49.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 10 head, 1900 to 2075 lbs., 66.50; high dressing, 67.50 to 68.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, 4 to 5 years old, 1025 to 1250 lbs., with 100- to 250-lb. calves, average blacks 1285.00 to 1300.00.
