Pratt livestock market report

Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 4,544 head, Feb. 16, compared to 3,367 head, last week and 4,434 head, last year, according to the Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Pratt. Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers weighing 300 to 700 pounds were not enough for a market test, although a higher undertone was noted, and those weighing 700 to 1000 pounds were $1 to $4 lower. Feeder heifers weighing 300 to 650 pounds were not enough for market test, although a steady undertone was noted, and 650 to 950 pounds were $2 to $4 lower. Trade was active, demand was good. Slaughter cows were $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were steady. Receipts included 79% 600 pounds and over, 13% 600 pounds and under, 8% cows and bulls. The feeder supply was 63% steers and 37% heifers.
