OKC West cattle sales

The OKC West Livestock Market Inc., El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 3,109 head Feb. 22, compared to 3,809 head last week, according to the USDA Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week at OKC West, feeder steers and heifers were steady to $2 lower. Steer and heifer calves were mostly steady on a limited test. Demand was moderate to good for all classes. Quality was plain to attractive. Feeder cattle in mostly moderate flesh conditions. Calves in medium to fleshy conditions. Weigh-ups were average to full. Slaughter cows and bulls were $1 to $3 higher. Packer demand was good. A total of 109 cows and bulls sold with 22% going to packers. The offering included 44% feeder heifers with 82% feeder steers and heifers over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, calves, 340 lbs., 150.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 145.00 to 148.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 134.00 to 135.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 127.00 to 138.00; 590 lbs., 123.00; 625 to 675 lbs., 109.00 to 112.00. Yearlings, 600 to 700 lbs., 112.00 to 118.75; 700 to 750 lbs., 106.00 to 114.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 103.50 to 108.75; 800 to 850 lbs., 100.00 to 104.00; 850 to 900 lbs., 96.75 to 101.75; 900 to 1000 lbs., 92.50 to 98.50; 1005 lbs., 94.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, calves, 570 lbs., 128.00; 624 lbs., 118.50. Yearlings, 700 to 800 lbs., 100.00 to 105.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 92.50 to 99.00. Medium and large frame 2, 760 lbs., 97.50. Medium and large frame 3 670 lbs., 96.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, calves, 395 lbs., 129.00; 435 lbs., 130.00; 475 lbs., 124.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 117.00 to 122.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 105.00 to 112.50; 670 lbs., 100.50. Yearlings, 600 to 700 lbs., 103.00 to 112.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 95.00 to 105.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 93.00 to 96.00; 900 to 925 lbs., 90.00 to 92.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, calves 490 lbs., 130.00. Yearlings, 695 lbs., 97.00. Medium and large frame 2, 670 lbs., thin 101.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 6 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1350 to 1850 lbs., 52.00 to 55.50; high dressing, 54.00 to 55.50. Boners, 7 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1500 lbs., 53.50 to 55.00; high dressing, 56.50 to 59.50. Lean, 7 head, 85 to 90% lean, 975 to 1200 lbs., 51.00 to 51.50; individual 59.50; low dressing, 45.00 to 49.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 5 head, 1900 to 2550 lbs., 63.50 to 65.50; high dressing, 68.50 to 70.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 1 to 2 years old, 950 to 1000 lbs., 4 to 8 months bred, average quality 830.00 to 960.00; 6 years old, 1100 lbs., 5 months bred, high quality black 1010.00; 6 years old, 1100 lbs., 8 months bred, average quality 760.00; 7 to 8 years old, 1100 to 1200 lbs., 4 to 6 months bred, average quality black 600.00 to 850.00; 10 years old, 1200 lbs., 7 to 8 months bred, average quality black 700.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 7 years old, 1000 lbs., with 150-lb. calves, average quality black 1100.00.
