NWGA seeking individuals to attend Wheat industry tourNebraska The Nebraska Wheat Growers Association is sponsoring the 2006 Wheat Industry Tour, occurring on March 21 to 22. The objective of the Wheat Industry Tour is to educate producers on the end-uses of Wheat and market demand for their products. "In today's marketplace, there is an ever increasing need to view production from a consumer's point-of-view. Specifically, producers will be exposed to information on milling procedures, standards of baking quality and varietal development," stated Mike Sullivan, President of the NWGA. The tour will begin in Lincoln on March 21, when a maximum of 15 participants will travel to Manhattan, KS to tour facilities including the International Grains Program (IGP), American Institute of Baking and the USDA Grain Marketing and Research Center. After returning to Lincoln on March 22, the group will tour both the Wheat research lab and the Wheat breeding facilities at the University of Nebraska--Lincoln. The NWGA will provide transportation to and from Manhattan, lodging at the Holiday Inn for the evening of March 21, and meals while on tour. If you are interested in participating in the 2006 Wheat Industry Tour, please contact Michelle at 308-284-6823 for additional information. The Nebraska Wheat Growers Association is a voluntary membership organization that represents Nebraska Wheat producers at the state and national level; while providing education and information on issues affecting Nebraska wheat.
